Welcome! You're here to bring about the end of the earth three times in a row or more! And here's how to do it...
1. Claim a bingo card HERE.
2. Create fanworks (all fanworks welcome: 1 square minimums = fic/meta 300 words, 3 icons, art min. size 100x300 pixels, 3 recs/300 words, 30s of vid, 3 songs for fanmix. No upper limits!)
3. Post completed bingos to the comm.
4. Prophesy doom to all your fandoms.
Works created for the challenge must involve an apocalyptic threat arising from the prompts on your card. However, you are not required to end the world with every square, if that's sounding a little too downbeat.
An apocalyptic threat is one that threatens an entire region/country/continent/planet/solar system/galaxy/universe etc, so it's up to you to pick how wide the threat is. The threat can be averted, postponed, or the fanwork can be concerning the survivors post-apocalypse, or your characters visiting a world destroyed long ago. It doesn't need to be "rocks fall, everyone dies" every time. It's up to you what you go with - total Destruction, inevitable doom, survival against the odds, bleak but with hope, “cosy catastrophe”, apocalypse averted, crackfic, parallel universes. The choice is yours. Using a canonical apocalypse scenario is fine, too, as long as it fits the prompt you're filling.
You're welcome to interpret the prompt as you please, but if you would like to know more about prompts/apocalypse types, most of the prompts are from these sites - please click the links for more info: Wikipedia's Apocalypse page, List of Risks to civilisation, List of Apocalyptic Fiction and TV Trope's Apocalypse How. There's also a Discussion & Resources post for further info or recommendations.
All fandoms are welcome, as are original works. There is an AO3 Collection.
As this is an unusual kind of bingo, there are no rounds or deadlines - merely sign-up for a card and complete a bingo whenever you choose.
It's fine to double up prompts with other challenges (provided the other fest/comm/challenge allows it).
How to achieve a bingo:
* 3 squares in a row in any direction - diagonal, horizontal or vertical (3 fills)
* Cross - centre cross (5 fills)
* Parallel diagonal - centre diagonal + one of either two square diagonal lines (5 fills)
* Border - all squares but the centre Wild Card (8 fills)
* Blackout - all squares (9 fills)
Once your first bingo has been completed, you may request another card or continue to use your card for extras, e.g.:
* Postage stamp - four squares combined into one fanwork. (1 fill)
* Parallel lines - any two horizontal or vertical lines (six squares) combined into one fanwork (1 fill)
* Blackout in One - all squares included in one fanwork. (1 fill)
* Drabble Blackout - all squares filled by perfect drabbles (fic only). (9 x 100 word fills)
You will receive a banner on completing your first bingo and another for completing each extra.
Posting Guidelines
Feel free to post the resulting fanworks wherever you choose as soon as you're ready to do so, but you must also post or link back to this community to claim your Bingo and receive a banner. You will need to join the comm to post. Please use the following template:
Header= "Bingo: Type (Line/Cross/Parallel Diagonals/Border/Blackout)"
Please use a cut for longer posts.
When posting, please add tags for fandom, medium type, and prompt, if they exist. If not, use the !tag needed tag to alert the mods, who will create them for you.
If you decide you want to abandon your card before completing a bingo, please post as above but with the header "Amnesty: X fills." (You may still claim a new card afterwards if you choose.)
Please do also post to the AO3 Collection.

Date: 2017-04-23 08:16 am (UTC)I know only what came from the above lists and Googling, so I'm certainly not an expert on the subject! But you can interpret anything fairly freely here. That's the basic idea, though. It does sometimes crop up in fantasy and sf, too, although it's often got a (real or fictional) religious slant - like the legend(s) of the Flood, if it happened every few millennia instead of once. Although it can also be v 'green' - nature cleansing itself. Or, as your prompt, anyway you choose to take it (or not).
I hope that helps, but if you google cyclical apocalypse it brings up some more things. (Sword Interval isn't as easy, as there now seems to be a comic based on the concept!)
If you haven't started working on your card and you feel that prompt is one you'd have avoided, I can generate you a different one if you think it may be a problem, that's fine.

Noticed a Typo at the AO3 collection
Date: 2017-04-29 01:48 am (UTC)A place for fanworks created for Tic Tac Toe, an apocalyptic mini bingo (Apocabingo) community to be found here on Dreamwidth.
I saw it when I went to check the collection now that I've finished my 3rd Apocafic. I don't know why, but so far each is for a different fandom. Wonder if the trend will continue.
Re: Noticed a Typo at the AO3 collection
Date: 2017-04-29 08:55 am (UTC)Well, I suppose it's only fair to destroy each fandom equally?
Re: Noticed a Typo at the AO3 collection
Date: 2017-04-29 04:21 pm (UTC)I copy/pasted a list of the fandoms I've written on AO3, and looked at it while considering the Bingo prompts. Some of the fandoms just leaped up and said 'Me, Me! I want that prompt! I'll be good!'
